Vigilance Control Device (VCD) is for monitoring alertness of engine crew through multi-resetting failsafe system which periodically gets reset by specified normal operational activities of the crew in addition to acknowledgement of vigilance check by operating foot pedal or ACK push switch during locomotive hauling. In case, driver becomes incapacitated, VCD initiates warning by flashing indication, sounding of buzzer and finally applies emergency brake to bring locomotive in stand still.
